Gunma · Kanto
Honshu's largest high-altitude marshland, an ~8 km² peat bog sitting at roughly 1,400 m and threaded by wooden boardwalks that keep hikers off the fragile bog. It is famous for white skunk cabbage (mizu-bashō) in late spring, yellow Nikkō-kisuge lilies in July, and cotton-grass, with Mount Shibutsu and Mount Hiuchi framing the horizon.
