Terms of Use
Last updated: 6 July 2026
By accessing or using Hidden Japan, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The service
Hidden Japan is a travel-planning platform that provides destination information, itinerary suggestions, travel tools, and related recommendations for Japan.
Hidden Japan is an evolving product. We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
Travel information and your responsibility
Hidden Japan provides travel suggestions for planning purposes only.
Transport schedules, opening hours, prices, availability, weather, events, seasonal conditions, visa requirements, and third-party booking information may change without notice.
You are responsible for verifying important travel information through official or reliable sources before making decisions, bookings, or purchases. This includes transport, accommodation, entry requirements, health requirements, closures, safety conditions, and third-party availability.
Hidden Japan is not responsible for losses, costs, delays, missed bookings, or inconvenience resulting from reliance on information provided through the service.
Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity under your account.
You must provide accurate information and notify us promptly at our contact page if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
Paid plans, payments and refunds
Hidden Japan offers paid plans: Trip Pass, a one-time purchase that unlocks paid features for 30 days from purchase, and Pro Annual, a yearly subscription that renews automatically until cancelled. Current prices are shown on the pricing page in Japanese yen.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe; Hidden Japan does not store your card details.
Digital service — immediate delivery: Trip Pass and Pro Annual unlock digital features that are delivered immediately on purchase. By purchasing, you expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge that, to the extent permitted by applicable law, any statutory right of withdrawal lapses once you use the paid features (for example, generating or saving a trip with them).
Refunds: Trip Pass and Pro Annual are non-refundable, except where the service materially failed to work because of a problem on our side. If that happens, describe the problem via the contact page within 14 days of purchase; requests are reviewed individually and decided at our sole discretion. A granted refund ends the associated plan and access to paid features immediately. Refunds are issued to the original payment method. Statutory rights that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law remain unaffected.
You can cancel Pro Annual at any time from your account. Cancelling stops the automatic renewal — no further charges — and is not a refund: the subscription simply runs to the end of the period you have already paid for, then your account moves to the free plan.
Operator
Hidden Japan is an independently operated service. Reach us via the contact page.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protections of the country where you habitually reside remain unaffected. Exclusive venue, to the extent permitted, is the competent court at the operator's Swiss domicile.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Hidden Japan for unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purposes;
- scrape, crawl, copy, systematically extract, or resell information from Hidden Japan;
- use automated systems to access the service without our permission;
- attempt to reverse engineer, interfere with, disrupt, or compromise the platform;
- upload malicious code or attempt to bypass security measures;
- use Hidden Japan in a way that harms other users, third parties, or the service.
We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated.
Third-party services and links
Hidden Japan may include links to third-party websites, products, services, bookings, maps, transport providers, accommodation providers, and travel tools.
These third parties operate independently from Hidden Japan. Their services, availability, prices, content, privacy practices, and terms are their own responsibility.
When you use a third-party link or make a booking or purchase, you enter into a relationship directly with that third party. Hidden Japan is not a party to those transactions.
Affiliate links
Some links on Hidden Japan are affiliate links. If you click a qualifying link and make a purchase, Hidden Japan may receive a commission.
See our Affiliate Disclosure for more information.
Intellectual property
The Hidden Japan name, branding, platform design, original content, code, and other materials are owned by or licensed to Hidden Japan and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
You retain ownership of the information and prompts you submit. By using Hidden Japan, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use that information only as necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the service.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Hidden Japan is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we do not guarantee that the service will always be available, error-free, accurate, secure, or suitable for your particular needs.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Hidden Japan will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes and contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
