Yanaka Cemetery is a hillside burial ground in old Tokyo whose central avenue is planted with cherry trees, making it a quiet hanami spot in spring, and it holds the graves of many well-known writers, artists and actors. It is free, ungated and open at all hours, eight minutes' walk from Nippori Station. Allow about half an hour to walk through it.
Usual hours — confirm with the official site for holidays + seasonal closures.
