Lake Ashi is a crater lake in the Hakone caldera, crossed by the mock-galleon sightseeing cruises that cost ¥1,700 one way or ¥3,000 return. Mount Fuji rises beyond the northern shore when the weather is clear, though the view depends entirely on cloud cover. The lakeside itself is free and open at all hours.
