Art Tower Mito, designed by Arata Isozaki and opened in 1990, is a cultural complex crowned by a 100-metre titanium tower built from 28 stacked tetrahedrons. Inside are a contemporary-art gallery known for ambitious exhibitions, a 680-seat concert hall and a 636-seat theatre — one of Ibaraki's defining architectural landmarks.
