Netsunoyu (Yumomi Show)

熱乃湯

Gunma · Kanto

Netsunoyu is the wooden hall directly beside the Yubatake where the traditional yumomi water-stirring performance is staged, in which performers cool the naturally hot spring water with large wooden paddles while singing folk songs. It is a ticketed scheduled show with fixed daily showtimes, not a walk-in bath, and each performance runs about 30 minutes.

Why we picked it

Yumomi was originally a practical technique to cool Kusatsu's fiercely hot water without diluting its minerals, so the singing and paddling here preserve a working bathing ritual rather than a staged folk act.
