Nagatoro Gorge

長瀞峡

Saitama · Kanto

Nagatoro Gorge is a stretch of the Arakawa River in Saitama known for its 'iwadatami' rock shelves — broad slabs of layered stone along the bank — and for the traditional line-boat rides that run the rapids beneath them. The maples on the canyon walls make the boat ride especially popular in November.

Why we picked it

Many mainstream travelers overlook Nagatoro Gorge in favor of more famous destinations, missing out on its serene beauty and unique geological features.
