Sumida Aquarium occupies two floors inside the Tokyo Skytree complex and is built around open-top tanks rather than tunnels, so visitors look down into the water from the walkway. Its centrepiece is a large indoor pool holding Magellanic penguins and fur seals, visible from a café that lets you sit alongside it, and a dedicated hall displays goldfish varieties bred in Edo-period Japan as a craft tradition. There is no natural light, so it works as a wet-weather stop.
