- The yamayaki is a single day in mid-March to early April (2026 slipped from Mar 3 to Apr 8) with traffic control on the day, and the path has closed for extended periods after storm damage.

- Strongly seasonal: the susuki is worth seeing roughly late September to late November (peak mid-Oct to mid-Nov); outside that it is green scrub or, after the annual yamayaki burn, blackened stubble.
