Choeiji Temple

長榮寺

Tokyo · Kanto

Choeiji is a Nichiren-sect temple in Honson village on Niijima, with a broad tiled main hall, bronze statuary and stone lanterns set against a green hillside, and an exiles' cemetery in its grounds. The grounds are freely open and there is no admission ticket. Reaching Niijima means a ferry from Tokyo; the temple is then a short walk within the village.
