Silk trader Sankei Hara opened this sprawling strolling garden to the public in 1906, populating its ponds and hills with historic buildings relocated from Kyoto, Kamakura, and elsewhere, including a three-story pagoda from 1457. Badly damaged in WWII and later donated to Yokohama City, it was fully restored and designated a National Historic Site in 2007.
