The national garden in front of the Imperial Palace: 1,300 black pines on gravel and lawn, the Kusunoki Masashige statue, and the classic view across the moat to Nijubashi — the twin-arched Seimon Ishibashi and the iron bridge behind it. It is open ground with no gate and no admission, and it is not a shrine; the palace inner grounds behind the bridge are closed except on guided tours and the two annual public appearances.
