Chuzenji Temple
中禅寺Tochigi · Kanto
Chuzenji charges ¥500 for an adult. The hall stands on the shore of Lake Chuzenji and holds the Tachiki Kannon, a standing figure said to have been carved by Shodo from a living katsura tree, and it belongs to Rinnoji rather than standing alone. The lake and Mount Nantai behind it are the setting the temple was built to face.
