Hondo-ji is a head temple of the Nichiren school at Hiraga in Matsudo, ten minutes on foot from Kita-Kogane station, with a five-storey pagoda and a long approach of cedars. The precinct holds roughly 50,000 hydrangea shrubs and a large stand of maples. It runs on two footings: free and open from early morning most of the year, and ticketed with shorter hours during its two display seasons.
