Ashikaga Flower Park is a large flower garden west of Ashikaga town, laid out around a group of ancient trained trees whose trellises are wide enough to walk beneath — the oldest is roughly 160 years old. The park runs on eight named flower periods across the year and lights the grounds after dark in the colder months, so there is always something staged. It has its own railway station on the Ryomo Line. The great wisteria in late April and early May is what it is famous for, and admission rises accordingly.
