Onioshidashi Park is a field of black lava on the northern flank of Mount Asama, formed by the volcano's Tenmei eruption of 1783. Paved paths run out across the broken rock to Asama Kannon-do, a hall founded in 1958 as a branch of Kaneiji in Tokyo to commemorate those killed in that eruption, with the summit rising directly behind it. The site lies inside Joshinetsu Kogen National Park on the Gunma side of the mountain.
