Hokokuji is a small Zen temple in Kamakura whose draw is the dense bamboo grove behind the main hall, with a tea house set among the stems. Admission is ¥400 for high-school age and above; matcha and dried sweets taken in the grove are a further ¥600, so ¥1,000 in all. It opens 9:00 AM–4:00 PM, about a half-hour walk or a short bus ride from Kamakura Station.
