Fukagawa Edo Museum

深川江戸資料館

Tokyo · Kanto

The Fukagawa Edo Museum charges ¥400 for an adult and closes on the second and fourth Monday of each month, and from 29 December to 1 January. Inside is a full-scale reconstruction of a Fukagawa canal-side block of the 1840s — tenement rooms, a boathouse, a vegetable stall — lit on a cycle that runs from dawn to night.

Why we picked it

Many travelers focus on more famous attractions in Tokyo, overlooking this unique historical experience.
