Edo Wonderland

江戸ワンダーランド

Tochigi · Kanto

Edo Wonderland is a historical theme park near Nikko that recreates an Edo-period town, with costumed residents, ninja and courtesan performances, trick houses and a working street of period shopfronts. Visitors can rent full period dress and spend a day inside the set. The park shuts completely for around five weeks each year between mid-January and mid-February, and runs shorter winter hours from December to mid-March.

Why we picked it

Many mainstream travelers focus on larger cities like Tokyo and Kyoto, overlooking this immersive cultural experience.
