Tomioka Silk Mill
富岡製糸場Gunma · Kanto
Japan's first full-scale mechanized silk-reeling factory (opened 1872), whose original French-influenced brick-and-timber buildings survive intact. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014 for its role industrializing Japan's silk trade.
