Shinkyo Bridge

Crossing Shinkyo costs ¥300 for an adult; looking at it from the road bridge alongside costs nothing, which is what most visitors do. The lacquered arch stands where Nikko's mountain cult began, at the point the priest Shodo is said to have crossed the Daiya on the backs of two serpents, and it forms the formal entrance to the Nikko shrine precinct.
