An uninhabited islet off Chichijima's southwest coast in the Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands — Tokyo's UNESCO World Natural Heritage archipelago. Its Ogi-ike lagoon, a turquoise tidal pool sealed off from the open sea by a natural limestone arch, is one of the most photographed 'hidden beach' views in Japan.
Usual hours — confirm with the official site for holidays + seasonal closures.
How to get there
24-hr Ogasawara-maru ferry from Tokyo (Takeshiba Pier) to Chichijima, departing roughly every 6 days. From Chichijima, a licensed tour operator runs boat or sea-kayak trips to Minamijima.
