Minamijima Islet (Ogi-ike Lagoon)

南島(小笠原)

Tokyo · Kanto

An uninhabited islet off Chichijima's southwest coast in the Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands — Tokyo's UNESCO World Natural Heritage archipelago. Its Ogi-ike lagoon, a turquoise tidal pool sealed off from the open sea by a natural limestone arch, is one of the most photographed 'hidden beach' views in Japan.

Why it's hidden

24-hour ferry-only access (no airport on Chichijima), capped at 100 visitors/day for max 2-hour guided visits, closed Nov-Feb for conservation.
