Hakone Shrine

Hakone Shrine's grounds are free year-round, including the pier at the torii standing in Lake Ashi; only the Treasure House charges, at ¥500 for an adult. The approach climbs a cedar-lined stone stairway from the lakeshore, and the shrine has stood on Mount Hakone since 757, on the old road between Edo and Kyoto.
