Lafcadio Hearn's Former Residence
小泉八雲旧居Shimane · Chugoku
The samurai-era house (built Kyoho era, 1716-1735) where Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo) lived with his wife Setsu for five months in 1891, in the Shiomi Nawate samurai district beside Matsue Castle's moat. The garden Hearn described in 'In a Japanese Garden' survives intact.
