Fugoppe Cave is a nationally designated historic site on the coast at Yoichi, where a sandstone rock shelter carries more than 800 figures carved into its walls by people of the Zoku-Jomon period. The carvings show horned and winged human-like figures, boats and animals, and are viewed through glass from an enclosed exhibition building that holds the cave at a stable temperature and humidity. Photography inside is not permitted and a visit takes roughly thirty minutes.
Usual hours — confirm with the official site for holidays + seasonal closures.
