Kifune Shrine is dedicated to the deity of water and stands above a mountain stream north of Kyoto, approached by a stone stairway lined with vermilion lanterns. The grounds are free, and the shrine opens 6:00 AM–8:00 PM from May to November but closes at 6:00 PM from 1 December to 30 April; the amulet and goshuin office keeps shorter hours of 9:00 AM–5:00 PM year-round.
