Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort

Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort

札幌国際スキー場

Hokkaido

Sapporo Kokusai sits inland behind Jozankei, high enough that it opens earlier and closes later than the resorts nearer the coast, and its long gondola serves wide intermediate runs cut through birch. The drive up passes the Jozankei onsen valley, which is why it is usually skied as a day out from a hot-spring stay rather than from the city.

Why we picked it

Pairs a half-day on snow with a Jozankei onsen night — the combination most Sapporo itineraries miss because the resort is not on the Niseko road.
