Wakasa-juku

若桜宿

Tottori · Chugoku

A former post town at the far end of a private single-track railway, where one street of white-walled storehouses stands behind a covered walkway built to keep the snow off. A water channel runs the length of it and the castle ruin sits on the hill above.

Why it's hidden

The end of the Wakasa line, which almost no visitor to Tottori ever boards — the town is preserved because it stopped being on the way to anywhere.
