Nunobiki Falls

布引の滝

Hyogo · Kansai

A set of four waterfalls in a forested ravine just behind Shin-Kobe Station, the tallest of which (Ontaki) drops 43 meters over a rock face. Long celebrated in classical Japanese poetry, it is counted among Japan's greatest 'divine falls' alongside Kegon and Nachi.

Why we picked it

Despite sitting a 20-minute hike from a Shinkansen station, most travelers ride the ropeway straight over it to the herb garden and miss the falls entirely.
