Kyoto Fushimi Sake District

The Fushimi sake district south of central Kyoto holds more than ten working breweries, their white-walled warehouses lining a canal that pleasure boats still run along. Walking it is free; the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum charges ¥600, which includes a tasting and a souvenir bottle, and opens 9:30 AM–4:30 PM with last entry at 4:00 PM. The station for it is Fushimi-Momoyama, about 12 minutes' walk — not Fushimi-Inari, which serves the shrine some way to the north.
