Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway

The Asahidake Ropeway climbs from Sanroku Station at Asahidake Onsen (about 1,100 m) to Sugatami Station (about 1,600 m) on the flank of Mount Asahidake, gaining 500 m in around ten minutes. From the upper station, boardwalks and trails open onto alpine tundra that turns fiery in mid-September, giving Japan its earliest autumn colours.
