Ukimidō (Mangetsu-ji)
浮御堂（満月寺）Shiga · Kansai
A small Buddhist hall built on wooden pilings over Lake Biwa in the Katata district of Otsu, belonging to Mangetsu-ji temple. One of the "Eight Views of Omi" (Katata no Rakugan, "wild geese descending at Katata"), it has been a celebrated scenic and poetic subject since the Edo period; the current structure dates to 1937.
