Built 1583 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, rebuilt by the Tokugawa shogunate, the current ferroconcrete main tower dates to a 1931 reconstruction. Played a central role in Japan's 16th-century unification. Best timed for late Mar-mid-Apr (cherry blossoms); mid-Nov-early Dec (autumn foliage).

  • Last entry 5:30 PM; the ticket queue may close earlier when crowded.
  • These hours are for the Main Tower (tenshukaku) only — Osaka Castle Park is open 24 hours and free, and Nishinomaru Garden keeps separate hours and charges its own admission.
