The highest mountain in the Chugoku region at 1,729m, an inactive stratovolcano nicknamed 'Hoki-Fuji' for its Fuji-like silhouette from the west. The standard trail from Daisen-ji up to Misen Peak takes roughly 3 hours, passing beech forests and alpine grassland.
