Kinosaki Onsen is a hot-spring town built around seven public bathhouses, which guests walk between in yukata and wooden geta as a matter of course. Each bathhouse costs ¥800 for adults and ¥400 for children, or ¥1,500 for a one-day pass covering all seven. It is seven minutes' walk from Kinosaki-onsen Station, about two and a half to three hours by train from Osaka or Kyoto. All seven of those public bathhouses admit bathers with tattoos — any size, no covering required — which the town states as policy rather than tolerates quietly. Baths inside individual ryokan set their own rules, so ask where you are staying rather than assuming the town policy follows you indoors.

Onsen town — free to walk. The seven public bathhouses (soto-yu) charge ¥800 adults / ¥400 children (3–primary school) each; the 'Yumepa' 1-day all-you-can-bathe pass is ¥1,500 adults / ¥750 children.
