Daisho-in was founded in 806 and climbs the lower slope of Mount Misen in a chain of halls linked by staircases, one flight lined with hundreds of small rakan statues, each carved with a different face. Admission is free and the temple opens 8:00–17:00; a charge applies only during the autumn Maple Light Up event.
