Mihonoseki Lighthouse (Cape Jizo)

美保関灯台

Shimane · Chugoku

An 1898 stone lighthouse perched on the sheer cliffs of Cape Jizo, the easternmost tip of the Shimane Peninsula, with unbroken views across the Sea of Japan toward the Oki Islands on clear days. Registered as a tangible cultural property and Japan Modern Industrial Heritage site.

Why we picked it

The most dramatic coastal viewpoint on the peninsula's outer tip, naturally paired with Miho Shrine 8km away, yet it almost never appears outside dedicated Shimane road-trip guides.
