Shiretoko Wildlife Cruise (Utoro)

知床観光船(ウトロ)

Hokkaido

Sightseeing boats leave Utoro Port to run along Shiretoko's roadless western cliffs toward Kamuiwakka and Cape Shiretoko — the best way to see brown bears foraging on the shoreline, plus waterfalls, whales, dolphins and seabirds depending on season. Small fast cruisers and a larger passenger ship both operate.

Why it's hidden

The only way to reach the peninsula's uninhabited tip and its shoreline bears is by boat, yet many visitors never leave the land trails.
