Totsukawa Onsen is a remote hot-spring village deep in the mountains of Japan’s largest village, where the baths run on 100% free-flowing source water — the area was Japan’s first to declare all its springs gensen kakenagashi. It lies on the Kumano pilgrimage route beside the Totsukawa river gorge.
