Uji Byodoin Temple

Byodoin is a UNESCO World Heritage temple in Uji whose Phoenix Hall stands on an island in its pond. Admission is ¥700 for the grounds and the Hosho-kan museum, with the Phoenix Hall interior a further ¥300 on a timed tour that runs only 9:30 AM–4:10 PM — arrive later than that and the hall can be seen from the outside only. The grounds open 8:45 AM–5:30 PM with last entry at 5:15 PM.
