The Tanize Suspension Bridge is Japan’s longest pedestrian iron suspension bridge, a 297-metre span swaying 54 metres above the clear Totsukawa river. Crossing it on foot over the gorge is a genuine test of nerve and one of Nara’s great mountain views.
