Kaka no Kukedo Sea Caves

Kaka no Kukedo Sea Caves

加賀の潜戸

Shimane · Chugoku

A pair of mythic sea caves on the Shimane Peninsula's north coast — Shin-Kukedo (New Cave, 40m high and 200m long) and Kyu-Kukedo (Old Cave) — carved by wave erosion and reachable only by sightseeing boat from Marine Plaza Shimane in Kaka port. Kyu-Kukedo is lined with Jizo statues marking the mythical riverbank of the afterlife.

Why it's hidden

A genuinely mythological, boat-only sea-cave experience with zero overlap against the existing Oki-islands sea-cliff entries — most Shimane visitors never learn it exists.
