Sakaimachi Street

Sakaimachi Street is a preserved merchant street in Otaru, its Meiji- and Taisho-era stone warehouses and trading houses now given over to craft shops, confectioners and cafes. It runs a short walk from the Otaru Canal, eight minutes from Minami-Otaru Station; the street is free and open at all hours, with each shop keeping its own.
