Yoshimizu Shrine stands on the slopes of Mount Yoshino, a shrine revered for centuries and once a refuge of Emperor Go-Daigo, with a celebrated view across the valley known as the hitome-senbon, the thousand trees at a glance. Those trees are cherries, and the view is at its most famous in early to mid-April.
