Todai-ji Daibutsuden (Great Buddha Hall)
東大寺大仏殿Nara · Kansai
The Daibutsuden is one of the largest wooden buildings in the world and the main hall of Todai-ji temple, rebuilt in the Edo period after fire twice destroyed the original 8th-century structure. Inside sits the 15-meter bronze Vairocana Buddha (Daibutsu), a National Treasure cast in 752 CE and flanked by towering guardian and bodhisattva statues.
