Kumano Taisha
熊野大社Shimane · Chugoku
One of Izumo Province's two ichinomiya (co-equal with Izumo Taisha), enshrining Susanoo-no-Mikoto. Considered the mythological birthplace of fire in Japan; its Sanka-den hall holds the fire-drilling tools used in the annual Sankasai fire festival and in the investiture of new Izumo Taisha chief priests.

Ichibata Bus bound for Yakumo from Matsue Station (~23 min) to the last stop, transfer to the small Yakumo community bus bound for Kumano, alight at 'Kumano Taisha-mae' (~10 min).
