Mitaki-dera Temple

三瀧寺

Hiroshima · Chugoku

Mitaki-dera climbs a wooded hillside above Hiroshima past the three waterfalls that give the temple its name. Entry is a ¥200 recommended donation dropped into a stone box at the entrance — there is no ticket desk and nobody staffing it. It opens 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, about 15 minutes' walk uphill from Mitaki Station, and it is at its best in autumn.

Why we picked it

Many travelers focus on Hiroshima's more famous sites like the Peace Memorial Park, overlooking this tranquil gem.
