Ieshima Islands

家島諸島

Hyogo · Kansai

A chain of about 40 small islands in the Harima-nada Sea off Himeji's coast, the largest (Ieshima/Ie Island) home to a working fishing town with narrow lanes, fresh-seafood restaurants and quiet beaches.

Why it's hidden

A 30-minute ferry from Himeji port reaches a genuinely different, slower-paced island world that almost no castle-day-trip visitor ever sees.
