A hot spring town on the banks of the Tokachi River in Otofuke, known worldwide as one of the few sources of 'moor onsen' (mo-oru), amber-colored water rich in ancient plant sediment said to soften skin. Ryokan line the riverbank amid the flat Tokachi Plain farmland.
