La Collina Ōmihachiman

ラ コリーナ近江八幡

Shiga · Kansai

Flagship complex of the Taneya/Club Harie confectionery group in Omihachiman, opened 2015-2016 on roughly 11.5 hectares. The main shop has a distinctive grass-covered roof designed by architect Terunobu Fujimori (with Hiroshi Nakatani), and the grounds include a bakery, castella shop, cafes, food court, and farm areas.

Why we picked it

Does not fit a hidden-gem framing — Shiga's #1-ranked tourist facility for nine consecutive years and highly Instagram-popular — included as an undisputed, famous #1 rather than a hidden alternative.
